Subject: Galileo Paradox

In the world of Aristotle (BC) Earth was considered the Center of the Universe. Earth did not spin on its axis & the Sun went around the Earth. It was the ancient thought of Socrates, Aristotle, & Plato.

In the early Church (AD) to believe otherwise Heresy. Now a Catholic monk & star gazer wrote a paper that the Sun was the center of the Universe, but Copernicus did not advertise his finding for fear of the Inquisition & death.

A much bolder man, Galileo, proved by way of Mathematics & the Telescope that Copernicus was correct. He did advertise & was silenced by the Roman Catholic Church & the Inquisition & recanted. Later he pioneered the Laws of Motion.

Two hundred years later Sir Isaac Newton proved with Calculus & Physics that Galileo was correct & vindicated him on the Astronomy. The Inquisition had banned Galileo’s Dialog, but not his Ideas.

In l992 Pope John Paul's Papal Commissioned apologized to the misunderstanding between religious orthodoxy of the time and scientific discovery.

Scripture never errs, but theologians may err in their interpretations.
